Will eating tomatoes lead to kidney stones?

Curejoy Expert Dr.Janardhana Hebbar Explains:

Tomatoes are one of nature’s most nutritionally rich foods and have to be part of a healthy everyday diet. A number of studies have shown that the consumption of tomatoes or tomato seeds does not lead to the development of kidney stones. Tomatoes are rich in antioxidants that actually prevent kidney and gall bladder stone formation.
But if you suffer from kidney stones and other kidney related problems, some doctors will ask you to restrict oxalate rich foods like spinach, okra and tomatoes. Oxalates can lead to the accumulation ofcalcium in the body, resulting in kidney stones. Scientific evidence is still divided on how much dietary oxalate actually gets absorbed by the intestines in the blood stream and finally reaching the kidneys. (Source: Curejoy)
